2008 Is Coming To A Quick Close...
We were unable to send card to everybody that we wanted to. So in the effort to do so, I will post the letter and the card that we sent here on my blog and also on my boards to try and make sure that everybody recieves it.
2008 is coming to a quick close. We haven’t done a letter in several years. We will try to get you caught up quickly here. Let’s get the bad news done and gone first.
The holidays are always a difficult time for Lyssa; last year was the second Christmas without Gma Ackerfield as she passed away on August 30, 2006. That is how long we haven’t done a letter with our cards. Lyssa’s health has progressively gotten worse. She has had to stop working this past May; she is now home full time. We are hoping this can be a time where we can focus on getting her some better treatments and help with new doctors and medications. Lyssa is still seeing her chiropractor for her pain needs as he is the only one at the moment that can even begin to help with some of it.
Gary is doing great at his new job, with Swinerton Builders Hawaii, as a Project Executive, overseeing all renovation, tenant improvement and medical projects. Many of you don’t know that he left Dick Pacific Construction LTD. after, 21 years and three name changes and buy-outs. This is a huge step-up for him with many challenges and future growth potential. He helps a great deal also with the kids and at home while Lyssa is getting treatments or is unable to do things.
Ethan is 11 now and is at Kaneohe Elementary School in the 6th grade. He is flourishing much better in a public school environment than he did where he was before, who would have thunk? He loves to spend time with Mommie alone one on one. They really can spend time together and N.O.T. fight. He loves spending time with his hanai (calabash) cousins on the weekends.
Shayla is almost 9 and is now in the 3rd grade and for the moment still at St. Mark Lutheran School. She loves all the friends that she has at school. She is a very outgoing little girl. She is going to be a great Mommie one day. She is constantly taking care of her animals and dolls and it is amazing to see one so small it have love that strong already. She loves to draw and color, both of our desks are full drawing and pictures that she has given us.
Evan just turned 6 in November and he is Daddy’s boy. He is a cahoot. He is in kindergarten with the most wonderful teacher that there is to be in the world. She has taught all of our keiki’s. Mrs. Gunderman is teaching her 41st year this year!!! Evan was reading by October, it was Awesome! He loves to work with tools. He absolutely loves spaghetti and meatballs. He recently moved out of the family bed and is in his first big boy bed and sharing a room with Ethan. Miss Priss, our Gray Tabby has taken to guarding him.
That is a little glimpse into our life at the moment. We have been greatly blessed to be together as a family, to have our home, a stable job for now and food on the table. The Lord meets our needs as He sees fit. We would like to close with wishing you and yours all a blessed happy ending of 2008 and prosperous 2009. Love &Blessings,
The Moura Ohana
Gary, Lyssa
Ethan, Shayla & Evan How are you and yours doing? We had a horrendous storm yesterday. We have a small reprieve today. The beauty of everything today is GORGEOUS!!! But it also reminds me of how small we are in the grand scheme of things. There is a video that I love, that was shown at our church, that seems to be missing.... around our house... but the gentleman speaking uses a golfball to illustrate how small even earth is in comparesion to most other planets and stars. It was just a really big eye opener for me. Last year for Christmas it was in most peoples Christmas boxes from us. Regardless if they were Christans or not. I sent it hoping for the best of course, but also from the standpoint of science for those that weren't. It also mentioned that all things in people were based on the cell structure of a thing called a laminin. Go look it up on google, you will trip out on what you see. The gentle man that pointed it out to this preacher was a gentictist and he was awestruck when he heard about the golf ball and the planets and stars....he told him about the laminin and the preacher was able to lead this man to a better understanding of more richer understandings of things also.Sorry if I am rambling. Christmas is a hard time for me.... I am going to post my Christmas letter and card on my blog and most of it rubbish... but this post is more about the season than presents and Santa,.... I totally do not like the commercialism of the Holidays anymore. I tend to really disappear at this time, so yes I am around but I often times hide too. I appreciate all the blog support and prayers, eventhough I didn't answer them, I did get them and they were like hugs and warm support. They were the love that I so desperately needed!!! Thank you so much!!!I am headed to the Dr now for a P.E.T. Scan so prayers are needed!!!
